Message In A Bottle Experience Thrills Mother & Daughter

It was an evening of surprise for a Goldsboro mother and daughter when they realized their message in a bottle had been discovered.

Stacy Ann Champion and her daughter tossed a bottle and accompanying letters into the waters off Oak Island in 2011 after getting the idea from a TV show.

Champion tells Goldsboro Daily News she wasn’t convinced she’d ever hear about it again.

Pictures of the bottle and enclosed letters started circulating Friday on Facebook after the bottle was found roughly 100 miles away by a crew for the North Carolina Coastal Federation during their Coastal Clean Up Project near the Emerald Isle Bridge.

By Friday evening, the news had reached Champion and her daughter.

Champion says her daughter, Elizabeth, was especially thrilled to learn the bottle had been found all these years later.

Elizabeth is a child with special needs, and Champion says it was a great adventure for her daughter.

There are plans to get the bottle and letters back to Champion and her daughter.
