Suspect Charged For Firing Into An Occupied Dwelling

A suspect is arrested in connection to an early March shooting in Goldsboro.  According to the Goldsboro Police Department, 23-year-old Deshawn M. Kasey of Goldsboro was taken into custody Saturday.  Warrants had been secured on Kasey in relation to the March 5th shooting on the 100 block of Astor Court.  GPD officers were responding to the West Haven Housing Community for a ShotSpotter alert when they found the Astor Court residence had been fired into.  Several people, including four minor children, were in the home when the shooting occurred.  Kasey has been charged with five counts of Firing into an Occupied Dwelling.  His bond was set at $2.5 million secured.

  1. “His bond was set at $2.5 million secured.” I had to read that twice! Are you sure he was charged here in Wayne County? That sure doesn’t sound like a Wayne County kind of bond. Have our magistrates FINALLY stepped up?

      No Way Have They “Stepped Up”. There’s not enough detention/jail space or court time available. Until those two issues are addressed, bonds will continually have to be set low. I’m not sure why this one’s so high.
