Motorcycle Crash Sends Rider To Hospital (PHOTOS)

Late Monday afternoon, the Dudley Fire Department along with Wayne County EMS Station 8 were dispatched to a traffic accident that involved a motorcycle at the intersection of Old Mount Olive Highway and Royal Drive. The driver of the motorcycle was taken to the hospital with non-life threating injuries. The motorcycle was heading north on Old Mount Olive Highway. A car was making a left hand turn off of Old Mount Olive onto Royal Drive, and the rider on the motorcycle applied his brakes trying to avoid the collision. The occupants of the car were not injured in the crash. The motorcycle rider was not the owner of the bike. The accident is under investigation by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Firefighters remained on the scene directing traffic through the accident site.
