United Way To Fill The Theatre Again

Last year, United Way of Wayne County presented the “Fill the Theatre” Food Drive to collect non-perishable food and personal hygiene items for our local food pantries and shelters.  “We filled ALL the seats in the Paramount Theatre with bags full of items,” said Patty Graham, Community Engagement Director at United Way of Wayne County.  Poverty impacts over 23,000 food insecure people in Wayne County which includes 7,500 hungry kids. Our local food pantries and shelters will soon experience an increase in demand when Wayne County schools dismiss for spring break and then a couple of months later they will be out for the summer.  So we ask Wayne County to start filling your bags or boxes to fill the seats of the Paramount Theatre Downtown Goldsboro with non-perishable food and personal hygiene items.

“Fill the Theatre” will be on March 20th and 21st this year.  Donors who don’t want to park can drop bags off with volunteers who will be outside the Paramount Theatre entrance at 139 Center Street from 9am to 7pm on both days.  Local organizations, businesses, churches, schools, and residents are encouraged to do food drives within their group, workplaces, and neighborhoods to help fill ALL 500 seats of the Paramount Theatre.  Fill the Theatre is a benefit for our local food pantries and shelters such as Salvation Army, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Student Pantries at WCC & UMO and Wayne County’s Domestic Violence Shelter.   For suggestions on items that are in need can be found on the United Way of Wayne County’s website www.unitedwayne.org or follow United Way of Wayne County on Facebook.
