Suspect Charged For Robbery, Assault

Around 3 PM on Tuesday, officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a subject that had been assaulted on the 700 Block of E. Ash St. Upon arrival, officers fount the victim suffering from injuries to his face and head, as well as scrapes on his arms. It was determined the victim was assaulted near the intersection of Deveraux and Roberts streets and was on the way to Wayne-UNC Health when the vehicle transporting him ran out of gas. U.S. currency was taken from the victim during the assault.  As a result of the investigation, warrants were secured on Tory M. Thompson of Goldsboro for Common Law Robbery, Assault Inflicting Serious Injury, and Injury to Personal Property. Thompson turned himself in at the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office on Friday and was served with the warrants. He received a $10,000 secured bond, which he subsequently posted.
