City Approves Plans To Repaint Water Tower

Goldsboro plans to refresh a city landmark.

Earlier this month, the Goldsboro City Council approved the low bid from Utility Service Company of Perry, GA for the repainting of the water tower at Center and Holly streets.

The total cost for the project is just over $1 million.

Goldsboro City Engineer Marty Anderson explained there was a delay in awarding the water tower project as the city looked for confirmation of lead in the old paint.

The work consist of painting the interior and exterior of the 1 million gallon water storage tank as well as reattaching the finial structure, or pinnacle, back onto the top of the water tower.

This Monday, Anderson also asked the city to approve spending an additional $37,500 the quality control inspection services for the water storage tank’s repainting project.

The Goldsboro City Council approved the quality control inspection services.
