DSS Director Announces Resignation

Wayne County Department of Social Services Director Tammy Schrenker has announced her resignation. She joined Wayne County in 2017. Schrenker made the announcement to the Department of Social Services Board at their regular meeting on April 15th and will remain as director until her exit on May 24th.

Department of Social Services Board Chairman Ray Mayo said, “This has been a difficult decision for Tammy, but we are thrilled that she will be closer to her family. Though Tammy will be greatly missed, she leaves us better than when she came here two years ago. We wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”

County Manager Craig Honeycutt added, “We appreciate Tammy’s service and leadership to Wayne County.  Tammy took us through organizational changes, and made our organization much stronger than when she arrived.  She has positioned the Wayne County Department of Social Services to be stronger as we move towards the future.”

Schrenker said, “I first of all appreciate the support of my board, the Board of Commissioners, the County Manager, and all of my staff. My time in Wayne County has been great. This was a very hard decision, but I know the Department of Social Services will continue to progress after I am gone.”

Yes, dealing with the corrupt governments, dirty politics, and unmotivated, lackluster staff that goes along with that job would take a toll on anyone for sure.
