New 911 Center Manager Introduced To Commissioners

Wayne County introduces its new 911 Director.

Chris Barnes was recently named the new 911 Center Manager, and County Manager Craig Honeycutt introduced Barnes to the Wayne County Board of Commissioners Tuesday.

Barnes began working for Wayne County ten years ago as a 911 Telecommunicator.

Barnes says he’s honored to take on the task, and he’s grateful the county recently approved the construction of a new 911 Center.

The commissioners questioned Barnes on the goal of a faster response time for any Wayne County citizen that calls 911.

Barnes says response times can vary based on district and how busy the system is at the time of the call.

Wayne County is in the midst of adding new EMS stations that should put all citizens within eight minutes of ambulance service.

Barnes replaces Daniel Wiggins, who resigned earlier this year to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical field.
