Tobacco Planting Begins In Wayne County (PHOTO GALLERY)

With Easter in the past, farmers across Wayne County are starting to get their tobacco plants in the ground. Michael and Tracy Price didn’t waste any time getting started Monday morning on their Pricetown farm in southern Wayne County. The weather was about perfect to start planting their 2019 tobacco crop.  A few crews of workers showed up early to hit the field, dropping the plants on the eight row planter with hopes of covering a lot of ground on this first day of planting. Other local farmers also could be seen in their fields around the area Monday morning. Farmers are hoping for a week of good weather so they can also catch up on planting the 2019 corn crop.

Tobacco? The cancer causing plant? Too bad it’s not Hemp aka Ganja or even Medical Marijuana. Would be much more profitable as well as actually good for people… Heck, ask Willie Nelson, he’ll tell you all about it’s benefits!
