Police Chase Stolen Vehicle In Kinston

A Kinston police chase comes to an end with a vehicle crash. Around 1:30 PM Monday, officers with the Kinston Police Department spotted a stolen motor vehicle travelling along Bright Street.  The stolen 2011 Ford Fusion was also believed to have been connected to several larcenies from motor vehicles earlier in the day.  The driver fled south on Queen Street and officer gave chase.  The pursuit ended as the vehicle crashed along a gravel path off of Jesse Howard Road in Lenoir County.  The driver, 16-year-old Kenneth L. Chavis of Plymouth, was transported to UNC Lenoir for treatment.  Chavis is being charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Felony Eluding.  An 18-year-old male and 19-year-old female passenger, both from Kinston, were also transported to the hospital for treatment.  The vehicle was reported stolen from Plymouth on Thursday.  The investigation into the case continues.
