Saluting Seymour

Every week, Saluting Seymour and SoundScope highlight an airman serving at the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro.

Senior Airman Bernard Matthews with the 4th Fighter Wing

Matthews is just hitting his three year anniversary with the Air Force and Seymour Johnson is his only duty station. He comes to Goldsboro from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Matthews is an aircraft mechanic and support technician, and he says there were a lot of details in his training.  Matthews says he finds plenty of ways to spend his free time in Goldsboro, including playing sports, travelling, writing poetry, and drawing.  As part of fulfilling the Air Force creed, Matthews says he also likes to volunteer in the community.  Matthews sees benefits to his Air Force career, including education and travel.  Matthews says he still appreciates and thanks all the people he’s met through his Air Force career.
