Goldsboro High School Principal Resigns

Christopher Horne

Goldsboro High School will need a new leader.

Wayne County Public Schools has confirmed that Goldsboro High School Principal Christopher Horne resigned Friday afternoon.

“Mr. Horne submitted his resignation upon the completion of the school year, citing family and professional opportunities as his reasons,” states Dr. Michael Dunsmore, WCPS Superintendent. “Beginning Monday, my team will begin assisting staff and the school’s administration in preparation for the upcoming school year. We will continue providing additional administrative support until a replacement can be named, and for as long as needed to ensure a smooth start to the 2019-2020 school year for students and staff.”

Mr. Horne has served as principal at Goldsboro High since July, 2018.

I know Mr. Horne made some mistakes in his year at GHS, as any leader of an organization with that many challenges is bound to do, but it is a shame that there isn’t some stability for the kids at that school. The constant turn over in staff and leadership just mirrors the instability in their home lives and makes it that much harder to get them to a place where they can focus and learn.

How about you Mr. Dunsmore, are YOU still actively seeking employment outside of Wayne County? I have one more question Did you have any connection whatsoever with the Principal of Goldsboro High before he was hired for that position? I think the taxpayers have a RIGHT to know these things, don’t you?
