Post 11 Wins Two Weekend Games

WINTERVILLE — Wayne County Post 11 picked up a pair of victories over the weekend at Pitt Community College.

Wayne County defeated Pitt County Post 39 9-4 on Saturday. After falling behind 2-0 after two innings, Post 11 erupted for nine runs over the next three innings. Will Uzzell led Wayne County with three hits. Clay Matthews supplied two hits, including a home run. Logan Merritt and Rowan Watt also had two hits. Tanner Willman hit a grand slam.

Blake Gipson recorded the win on the mound. He surrendered four runs on seven hits, with five strikeouts and three walks in 6 1/3 innings of work.

Wayne County earned a 2-0 win over Jacksonville on Sunday.

Patrick Jones tossed six shutout innings on the mound for Post 11. Tanner McKeel struck out the side in the seventh inning to record the save.

Post 11 (14-6, 5-2 Area I East) plays host to Farmville at 7 pm on Tuesday at Goldsboro High School.
