Tomato Day at the Farm Credit Farmers Market

Celebrate tomato season at the Farm Credit Farmers Market!

Purchase tomatoes at the farmers market, enter your best tomato dish in recipe contest, taste a new recipe featuring tomatoes, and get answers to your gardening questions!

Friday, July 12th from 10 am to 5 pm

Location: Farm Credit Farmers Market (Behind The Maxwell Center) at 3114 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro

Enter the Tomato Recipe Contest!

General Rules for tomato recipe contest:

  • Contest is open to all ages
  • Entries will be received from 1pm to 1:30pm
  • Judging will begin at 1:30pm
  • Recipe much include at least 1 cup of tomatoes
  • Contestants must be present during the contest
  • Contestants may enter more than one recipe, but only one recipe can win
  • Entries must be prepared at home and presented at the market ready for judging
  • Entry will need to serve 3 to 4 judges
  • Entries must be homemade
  • Entries may be brought in any type of container (preferably disposable); it is not the responsibility of the farmers market to return any dishes
  • Recipe must be submitted with entry
  • Entries may be served to the audience after judging and announcement of winner
  • The winner’s recipe and picture will be published in local media outlets

Food Demonstration by Michelle Estrada, Wayne Co. Extension Family & Consumer Science Agent

  • 2:30 to 4:30pm
  • Sample a recipe using tomatoes along with receiving recipe and nutritional information

Extension Master Gardeners will be available to answer gardening questions.
