Heat Advisory Issued As Temps Soar

A Heat Advisory is once again in effect for Wayne County and much of Eastern and Central North Carolina. The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a Heat Advisory, which is in effect from noon today until 7 PM this evening.

Heat index values are forecast to rise to between 102 and 107 degrees this afternoon, due to temperatures in the middle to upper 90s, and dewpoints in the lower 70s. Hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
