Drinking Water Advisory Issued For Part Of Goldsboro

The City of Goldsboro has issued a Drinking Water Advisory.  All customers between Ash Street and Spruce Street and from Highway 117 to Slocumb Street are affected, and, as a precautionary measure, the city recommends that you use bottled water or boil your tap water for three minutes and let it cool before using it for:

  • Drinking
  • Making ice
  • Food preparation
  • Brushing teeth
  • Other purposes that involve consuming water

The advisory is a precautionary measure due to the repair of a leak and a temporary service interruption in the city’s water distribution system.

BOILING OUR WATER IS A PRECAUTION when water service has been interrupted. The city has no indication at this time that our water is unsafe to drink. To ensure the water is safe, we have collected samples from the area where the break occurred for testing in our laboratory. The city expects to receive the results within 24 hours and will notify you and other customers when there is no further need to boil our water or regarding any further precautions or restrictions on using our drinking water.

You may experience discolored water (red, brown, or milky colored) which can be caused by harmless sediment and/or air bubbles. To clear up the discoloration, we advise you to run cold water through your bathtub or other faucets for 5 to 10 minutes. If discoloration persists after performing these measures, please contact our Distributions and Collections division immediately at 919-734-8674.
