Habitat Goldsboro-Wayne Competes In Online Voting Contest

Habitat for Humanity of Goldsboro-Wayne needs the community’s help by voting for it to receive a $25,000 grant from State Farm to help improve our Wayne County.

Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 12 a.m. and ending Aug. 23 at 11:59 p.m., US residents 18 years and older with a valid email address can begin voting for their favorite cause. Each person is allowed up to 10 votes per day. On Sept. 25, the top 40 vote-getters will be announced at http://www.neighborhoodassist.com/ and a $25,000 grant will be awarded to each of those top 40 vote-getters.

With your help Habitat Goldsboro-Wayne and is A Brush With Kindness program can be one of those top 40 vote-getters. Seeking to work with low- to moderate-income families who already own their homes, A Brush With Kindness focuses on minor, exterior repairs – those types of repairs that can improve a family’s safety and well-being, help avoid future problems and improve a home’s curbside appeal.

“We are excited about this opportunity,” said Matthew Whittle, executive director for Habitat Goldsboro-Wayne. “We were a finalist for this competition a couple of years ago and came up just short. This year we’re hoping to do better.

“The funds we receive are making a difference in the community as we seek to do what we can to make people’s homes a little better. And this grant will allow us to help even more families and to do so in a more meaningful and subsidized manner.”

Votes can be cast at https://www.neighborhoodassist.com/entry/2023601.

“We just thank the community so much for supporting us and for believing in our mission,” Whittle said. “We could do what we do – our homeowners would not have new places to call home – without you.”
