Bookbags Handed Out In Mount Olive (PHOTO GALLERY)

In spite of the rain Saturday afternoon, the annual bookbag giveaway came off with only a few changes in the program. Members of FIC Group, churches and volunteers had to come up with a plan to accommodate the numerous people that came out with their children to the Nelson Street Park event in Mount Olive. This year, due to the rain, members of the FIC decided to have a drive-thru line to distribute the bookbags. Along with the backpacks filled with school supplies, the kids also received a care package that was put together by the local churches, and each child received a coloring book courtesy of the Piggly Wiggly. Members of the Mount Olive Police Department assisted with traffic during the event.
