Public Hearing Tonight Will Focus On Kinston Bypass

The public is getting a look at the NCDOT’s proposed bypass around Kinston.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation held a public meeting on the U.S. 70 Bypass Monday at Lenoir Community College.

Another open house and public hearing on the Kinston Bypass is also scheduled for this evening, Tuesday, August 20th.  The open house is being held from 10 AM until 1 PM.  The pre-hearing open house is from 3 PM until 6:30 PM.  The NCDOT’s formal presentation and public hearing begins at 7 PM.  All of today’s events will be held at the Lenoir Community College Student Center.

The Kinston Bypass, as proposed by the NCDOT, would be a four-lane, median divided freeway (accessible via ramps at interchanges) that extends 22 miles from U.S. 70 near La Grange to U.S. 70 near Dover.
