County: Residents Respected Curfew During Dorian

Wayne County mostly escaped the wrath of Hurricane Dorian.

The storm struck Thursday with the strong winds and heavy rains continuing through Friday morning.

Wayne County Public Information Officer Joel Gillie says the county escaped the brunt of Dorian, and there were no major emergency responses overnight.

Gillie says residents seem to respect the storm and stayed indoors during the worst of Dorian.

The county ended its State of Emergency at 11 AM Friday.

About 200 people utilized the two emergency shelters established in Wayne County for Dorian.

Those shelters were closed Friday and residents returned to their homes.
