Suspect Charged For 2016 Murder

Goldsboro Police arrest a suspect for a 2016 murder.  Versean Jenkins of Goldsboro was shot on the 500 block of E. Elm Street on May 22nd, 2016.  The 21-year-old was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care and then transported to Vidant Medical in Greenville where he succumbed to his injuries.  The Goldsboro Police Department reports their investigation led to a warrant being secured on 25-year-old Dearron D. Strickland of Goldsboro in relation to Jenkins’ death.  Strickland was served with the warrant for 1st Degree Murder on Wednesday while he was already incarcerated at the Wayne County Detention Center for unrelated charges.  Strickland received “no bond” for the murder charge.  The Goldsboro P.D. says the case remains open and additional arrests are anticipated.
