SJAFB Airmen Run To Honor POW/MIA (PHOTOS)

Team Seymour is remembering prisoners of war and those that are still missing in action.

In honor of POW/MIA Week, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base is holding a 24-hour run with airmen staying on the move for one straight day.

The run began with an opening ceremony at 4 PM Wednesday.

Master Sgt. Brandin Wendt says participating airmen will take turns carrying the POW/MIA Flag for the duration of the run.

Wendt says the goal is to remember prisoners of war and those that are missing in action made an ultimate sacrifice.

The closing ceremony is being held this afternoon.

Friday, September 20th, 2019, is National POW/MIA Recognition Day in the U.S. In the United States, National POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed on the third Friday in September. It honors those who were prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action.

    Very proud of our servicemen and women! Thanks for sharing news about an event that should make us all pause a few moments to recognize and remember all the troops through the years that have not been accounted for or recovered from foreign soil.
