City Agrees To Apply For Justice Assistance Grant

The Goldsboro Police Department is teaming up with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office to go after a Justice Assistance Grant.

At the last city council meeting, Goldsboro Police Chief Mike West explained his department and the sheriff’s office would be applying for the Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant worth just over $47,000.

Chief West says the GPD would use the funds to purchase additional patrol rifles, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office would purchase 32 ballistic shields.

Each agency would receive $23,501.50.

The Goldsboro City Council gave the necessary approval for the police department to apply for the grant.
