Freedom Festival Could Be New Goldsboro Event

The City of Goldsboro is hoping to plan a new event that will celebrate North Carolina’s military heritage.

At Monday’s city council meeting, Jordan Walker with Goldsboro Parks and Recreation explained the event could celebrate all the armed forces in the State of North Carolina.

Walker says there could be a week of activities leading up to the festival.

There’s also a plan to include the Elks Lodge Wings Of Wayne cook-off as part of the Freedom Fest.

Walker says the goal is to get sponsors to fund the event, which would possibly include a car show, kids zone, military appreciation awards, entertainment, and more.

No action was taken on the proposed N.C. Freedom Festival at Monday’s meeting, but the Parks and Rec Department will continue looking at coordinating the new event.

The idea is to plan the N.C. Freedom Festival for Armed Forces Day, which is Saturday, May 16th, 2020.
