November 6, 78, Mount Olive

Robert Junious Overton, 78, life long resident of Mount Olive, passed away Wednesday evening, November 6, at Vidant Medical Center.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, November 9, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at 12 Noon at Wayne Memorial Park. Pastor Lee Britt will officiate.

Mr. Overton was a retired supervisor with Mt. Olive Pickle Company. He was a member of Jones Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a minister of the Gospel.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Junious Overton, and a brother, Elbert Ray Overton, and is survived by his wife, Shirley Coker Overton, of the home; his mother, Martha Gurganus Overton of Mount Olive; two sons, Billy Overton and wife, Michele, and Kenneth Overton and wife, Lori, all of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Kenneth Kyle Overton of Grantham, and Kala Rae Overton of Grantham, and her friend, Andrew Raynor; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen O. and George Summerlin of Dudley; a sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Overton of Mount Olive.
