North Duplin Student Of The Month

Abril Dominguez Eriza

The Scholarship & Awards Committee of North Duplin Jr/Sr High School is pleased to announce that Abril Dominguez Eriza is the November Student of the Month for the Mount Olive Exchange Club and Duplin Rotary Club. Abril is a senior at North Duplin and is the daughter of Rosy Eriza of Mount Olive, North Carolina.

Abril has played an active role in clubs during her high school career. She participated in Art Club, SADD Club, Science Club, International Club, Foreign Language Club, and Student Council. In seventh grade, Abril played defense on her middle school girls soccer team.

Abril is a member of St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Mount Olive. She volunteers by interpreting for adults and her fellow students. In her free time, Abril enjoys playing her accordion and doing makeup. Her favorite quote is “Work for cause not applause, live life to express not to impress.”

The thing Abril is most proud of is the young woman she has become despite the trials life has thrown at her. If she could invite anyone to dinner, past or present, she would invite the late singer, Selena Quintanilla. Her reasoning is that Selena was a genuinely happy, caring young woman, and Abril aspires to be as selfless as Selena was. When asked who she admired most she answered, “My Mother, because even after everything that has happened, she continues to be the brave, kind-hearted, supportive and independent woman she has always been!”

Abril wishes to continue her education following high school and to pursue a teaching career.
