Wayne County Approves Overnight Ambulance Agreement

Wayne County has hired an overnight non-emergency ambulance service.

Last month, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners gave final approval to the franchise agreement with North State Transport.

Wayne County Manager Craig Honeycutt says the agreement begins December 1.

The agreement has North State Transport providing the non-emergency medical transport for residents between the hours of 6 PM and 6 AM Monday through Saturday and all day on Sunday.

Overnight non-emergency medical transportation had been handled by Wayne County’s EMS crews, straining the personnel as they covered both emergency and non-emergency calls during the overnight hours.
