Suspect Accused Of Statutory Sex Offense With A Child

Bond is set at $350,000 secured for a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a child. The Goldsboro Police Department says 53-year-old Freemon Sykes, III has been arrested on the charge of Statutory Sex Offense with a Child by an Adult. On October 18th, it was reported to the Goldsboro P.D. that a 10-year-old had been sexually assaulted numerous times over a two-year period by a family acquaintance.  The alleged abuse reportedly occurred at a residence within the city.  Warrants were issued for Sykes on November 27th, and he was taken into custody without incident on the 900 block of Hugh Street by the U.S. Marshals Task Force on Wednesday.  Sykes was held at the Wayne County Detention Center.
