Police Fire At Vehicle Attempting To Ram Bystanders

Around 9:30 PM on Saturday, officers from the Goldsboro Police Department were dispatched to a disturbance near the 100 & 200 buildings of Day Circle. Upon their arrival, officers encountered a large disturbance involving several individuals and several vehicles. During the incident, a subject attempted to hit several subjects with their vehicle in the presence of GPD officers. As a result, an officer on the scene discharged their weapon in an effort to stop the driver of the aforementioned vehicle from harming anyone else. The suspect’s vehicle sustained minor damage from the shot discharged by the officer but no one inside of the vehicle was struck. One subject was struck by the suspect vehicle. They were transported to Wayne UNC where they received treatment for non-life threatening injuries. They have since been released. The involved officers did not sustain any injuries. The incident is being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Division and criminal charges are pending. In addition, an internal investigation will be conducted by the Goldsboro Police Department. At this time, no names will be released.
