More Boards Vote To Support Sales Tax Proposal

During their meetings Tuesday, the Wayne County Development Alliance Board of Directors, Wayne County Planning Board, and Spring Creek High School Booster Club all approved resolutions in support of the one-quarter cent local option sales tax.

WCDA Board Chairman David Perry said, “We are happy to work with the Wayne County Board of Commissioners and Wayne County Board of Education on support for the ¼ cent sales tax passage. Education is a key for economic development in our community, and this shows that we are committed to a strong and vibrant workforce within our community.  We encourage all industry partners within Wayne County to do the same with their support.”

If passed by voters on March 3, this sales tax referendum will generate approximately $2.6 million in revenue per year in Wayne County to begin work on $32 million in public school facility improvements. The sales & use tax referendum excludes gas, prescription medication, and non-prepared foods or groceries.

To help citizens become more informed, the school district has launched an Informational Website ( which includes an Interactive Map of School Projects, a Breakdown of School Projects & Estimated Costs, and a FAQ about the proposed sales tax.

Signs supporting the proposed quarter-of-one-cent sales tax increase are popping up across Wayne County
