Suspect Faces Murder Charges For Woman Found Dead Inside Vehicle

On Thursday, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division arrested and charged 33-year-old James Isaac Jones, Jr. of Pikeville with one Open count of Murder and one count of Murder of an Unborn Child. Jones was arrested without incident. Jones is under No Bond Hold at this time in the Wayne County Jail. These charges are the result of an investigation into the death of Cassia Renee Duval and her unborn child.  Duval was found deceased inside a vehicle in a ditch on January 29th at the intersection of Pikeville-Princeton Road and Nahunta Road. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has classified Duval’s death as a homicide. Jones and Duval reportedly lived together at the time of the homicide.

As concerning as this case is, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office wants to inform the citizens living in this area that there is no concern for their safety dealing with this investigation.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the citizens and witnesses that have come forward and provided information on this case.

James Isaac Jones, Jr.

One of the leading causes of death in American pregnant women is murder by baby – daddy, regardless of race or socioeconomic background. That’s just how we roll here in America

  2. pyrate says:

This is very sad and disturbing. If you follow any news where a child or the mother and child are killed, it looks like the prime suspect is frequently the stepfather, the baby-daddy or the boyfriend shacking up with the unwed or divorced mom. I know I shouldn’t be blaming the victim here, but when will these women ever learn to avoid this bad pattern? I grieve for the dead mother and child, and I apologize ahead of time if I stepped on too many toes too soon after the deaths.

It doesn’t get any sadder than this.
