HERMAN PARK WILL COME ALIVE WITH MUSIC, FOOD, RIDES AND ENTERTAINMENT AS GOLDSBORO HOSTS ITS FIRST CELEBRATATION OF JUNETEENTH.

JUNETEENTH, ALSO KNOWN AS JUNETEENTH INDEPENDENCE DAY OR FREEDOM DAY, IS AN AMERICAN HOLIDAY THAT COMMEMORATES THE JUNE 19, 1865, ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE ABOLITION OF SLAVERY IN THE U.S. STATE OF TEXAS, AND MORE GENERALLY THE EMANCIPATION OF ENSLAVED AFRICAN AMERICANS THROUGHOUT THE FORMER CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA.

OVER 25 VENDORS WILL BE ON HAND OFFERING CLOTHING, FASHION, AND 5 FOOD TRUCKS WILL OFFER PLENTY OF “EATS” INCLUDING BAR-B-QUE, DOUGHNUTS, WINGS, DRINKS AND MORE.

ON STAGE WILL BE TWO NATIONALLY KNOWN RECORDING ARTISTS, TIGO B AND KUUDOZE.
KUUDOZE IS A 24 YEAR OLD HIP HOP/SOUL ARTIST BORN AND RAISED IN GOLDSBORO, NC. IT ALL STARTED GROWING UP LISTENING TO HIS UNCLE’S PLAY INSTRUMENTS, RAP, AND SING. HIS MUSIC THEN BEGAN TO PLAY AT LOCAL EVENTS, WHILE HE TOOK ON PERFORMANCES IN GOLDSBORO. AFTER HIGH SCHOOL, KUUDOZE EMBARKED ON HIS COLLEGE JOURNEY WHEN HE ATTENDED LIBERTY UNIVERSITY IN LYNCHBURG, VA. WHILE AT LIBERTY U, KUUDOZE WAS BOOKED TO PERFORM WITH A WELL-KNOWN BAND CALLED “THE REFUGEE CAMP”. KUUDOZE MUSIC IS NOW BEING PLAYED IN DIFFERENT CITIES, STATES, AND COUNTRIES. TODAY, KUUDOZE CONTINUES TO POUR INTO HIS MUSIC CAREER TO CONNECT WITH SOULS AND INSPIRE.

TIGO B’S INITIAL CLAIM TO FAME WAS FROM WHEN HE USED TO SPECIALIZE IN TRAP MUSIC. IT WAS 2010, AND THE RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA, NATIVE WAS RECORDING AT AN ATLANTA STUDIO WHEN HE RAN INTO WAKA FLOCKA FLAME. TIGO WOULD FEATURE WAKA ON “WE GOT IT,” AT A TIME WHEN EVERYONE WAS WATCHING FOR WAKA’S NEXT MOVE. PREVIOUSLY, COMPLEX CALLED TIGO B AN ARTIST “BOUT TO BLOW.” HIPHOPDX CALLED RISE: A GEMINI-STORY ONE OF THE “MOST IMPORTANT MIXTAPES OF 2014.” WITH HIS LATEST, TIGO B HASFOUND EVEN MORE SUCCESS. SINCE ITS RELEASE, 22 RADIO STATIONS HAVE PUT “WHERE YOUCAME FROM” ON REGULAR ROTATION, MAKING IT OF THE 50 MOST ADDED SONGS IN THE UNITED STATES, AS IT SPREADS TO CITIES LIKE DETROIT, INDIANAPOLIS, CHATTANOOGA AND JACKSONVILLE. “WHERE YOU CAME FROM” ALSO MARKS THE START OF TIGO’S NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH JAPAN’S AVEX MUSIC PUBLISHING, FROM WHICH HE ALSO PLANS TO BRANCH OUT INTO MODELING AND FILM.

ALSO PERFORMING WILL BE LOCAL DANCE GROUPS TRIPLE D AND A DRUMMERS WORLD AND DJ MICKY D. SPEAKERS INCLUDE GOLDSBORO MAYOR CHUCK ALLEN, REV. MARVIN ALEXANDER, REPRESENATIVE JOHN BELL, REPRESENTATIVE RAYMOND SMITH, A PRESENTATION OF THE FLAG BY THE COLORGUARD FROM SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE AND THE NATIONAL ANTHEM PERFORMED BY VICTORIA ATKINS CHOIR DIRECTOR AT GOLDSBORO HIGH SCHOOL.
