LIEAP – Low Income Energy Assistance Program

Wayne County  Department of Social Services 

 

LIEAP ( Low Income Energy Assistance Program )   provides a one-time annual vendor payment to help eligible families to pay their heating expense.  All payments are made directly to the utility company or provider.

 

 

What do customers need to bring to the interview:

  1.  Social Security number for each household member
  2.  Account number for heating utility bill
  3.  Proof of income for month prior to month of application.

 

Households must meet income eligibility requirements

 

Application Dates:

  1. December 1st through December 31st – Elderly population age 60 and above and disabled persons receiving services through the Division of Again and Adult Services.  LIEAP applications taking for these households .

 

  1.  January 1st through March 31st all other households can apply and must meet eligibility requirements .

 

Where will Applications be Taken:

 

    1.  Herman Park Center located at 901 Ash St, Goldsboro NC  27530  
    2. Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm, beginning December 1 – March 31st.
  •  Services on Aging, 2001 E Ash St , Goldsboro NC 27530, Monday – Friday, 8:00am-1:00pm, December 1st – December 15th.

 

 

    1.  The Senior Citizens Center, 711 NW Center St, Mt. Olive NC  28365 (also called the WAGES Nutrition Site), Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 12:30pm, December 18 – December 29 or until money is exhausted.  Please note, applications will not be taken on December 25, 26 or 27 due to closure for the holidays

    3. Town Hall, 120 E. Main St, Fremont NC  27830, Monday – Friday, 8:30am-12:30pm, December 18 –March 31st. Please note, applications will not be taken on December 25, 26 or 27 due to closure for the holidays.
  • Steele Memorial Library , 119 W. Main St , Mt. Olive   Monday – Friday 9:00 – 12:30 pm   January 2nd– March 31st. ow
