Closings and Delays

Schools:

  • Wayne County Public Schools will remain CLOSED to students and staff for the remainder of the week
  • All campuses – except those which may be designated by the Wayne County Emergency Operations Center as an Emergency Shelter
  • Wayne Prep will remain CLOSED to students and staff for the remainder of the week
  • Wayne Community College will remain closed to the public through Sunday, September 123 2018.  All classes will remain canceled during this time.  Faculty and staff will return to normal operating schedule Thursday, September 20, 2018.  Students are encouraged to check email and Moodle regularly for assignments.
  • Lenoir County Schools to students and staff through Wednesday, September 19th.
  • University of Mount Olive
    Classes will resume Thursday, September 20th for both traditional and adult seated or online students.  For this week, adult seated students will have virtual class sessions.Residential students can return to campus after 12:00 noon this Wednesday, September 19th.Faculty and staff will return to their respective work locations on Wednesday, September 19th.

Businesses:

  • Georgia-Pacific Dudley Plywood, open all shifts
  • Goldsboro Ballet closed through Wednesday, September 19th.  The Love of Dance has been postponed until October 14th.
  • Donald H. Kirkman, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 45, is closed for all business until Tuesday September 25, 2018 due to weather conditions

  • KidsFest at Berkeley Mall is cancelled for the year due to the expected arrival and impact of Hurricane Florence
  • The 2018 Downtown Goldsboro Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony has been rescheduled for Friday, October 19, 2018 due to hurricane relief efforts in the community
  • Wayne County Shriners Fish Fry for Friday has been postponed.  The new date will be October 26th.  Those that have already purchased tickets will be able to use those tickets at the rescheduled date.
  • the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce is POSTPONING the Economic Outlook Luncheon scheduled for Wednesday, September 12th.   You will be notified when a rescheduled date is set.
  • the Wayne County Public Library regrets that we must cancel our program planned for Wednesday, Sept 12 at 7 pm entitled, “Not For Long: the Life and Career of the NFL Athlete” by Robert W. Turner II, Ph. D. There are no plans to reschedule the program at this time, but we will notify the public if a new date becomes available
  • The Mental Health Association in Wayne County has postponed the “Bully Free Zone”  Program scheduled for September 13th until September 25th.
  • The Farm Credit Farmers Market will be closed until further notice in preparation for the hurricane.
  • Dwelling Together In Unity Community Expo event has been Cancelled
  • The White Oak Shores Bluegrass Festival has been cancelled due to flooding
