(NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK) — The North Carolina High School Athletic Association will extend the dead period created by COVID-19 until June 15. It was originally supposed to expire on June 1.
NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker will allow all sports to resume when the dead period ends. However, Tucker says she realizes that students will still be at risk.
The question of whether there will be high school football this fall remains up in the air. The NCHSAA is moving forward as if fall sports will begin on Aug. 1, however they are working on contingency plans in case that cannot happen.
