Every week, Saluting Seymour and SoundScope highlight an airman serving at the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro.

Senior Airman Marco Mercado from the 4th Fighter Wing

Mercado has been in the Air Force about three years.  He comes to Goldsboro from Jersey City, New Jersey.  Mercado serves as Communications Vocal Point, which is like a help desk for the base’s IT.  Mercado says he was hoping to work on computers when he joined the Air Force.  Mercado says his training for his Air Force career included Security+ certification, which is useful in a post-Air Force career.  Seymour Johnson is Mercado’s first duty station.  Mercado says the benefits to an Air Force career include education.
