Surviving are: his children including Diann Matthews (Todd) of Archer Lodge, Carolyn Henley (Brian), Katherine Heibel, both of Wilson, and Robert James Heibel, Jr. (Cassie) of Charlotte; nine grandchildren including Kara Matthews, Daniel Matthews, Kate Matthews, Jenna Henley, Anna Henley, Sara Henley, Robby Heibel, Maddie Heibel, and Elise Heibel; and siblings including Don Heibel, Larry Heibel, Theresa Heibel, Madeline Heibel, and Tom Heibel.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann Marie Heibel, his parents Roman Heibel and Eleanor Fifelski Heibel, and siblings Dorothy Heibel and Gene Heibel.
