Southern Wayne bounced back from its season-opening loss against C.B. Aycock and handed county foe Eastern Wayne a 25-20, 3-25, 25-18, 25-13 loss in Eastern Carolina 3A/4A Conference action Monday evening.
The victory gives the Saints their first win of the season. Southern Wayne (1-1 overall, 1-1 ECC) travels to South Central (2-0, 2-0) on Tuesday, while Eastern Wayne (0-2, 0-2) next faces New Bern (0-2, 0-2).
“I think the girls started off really flat, but we found a rotation of girls that work well together and that help,” Southern Wayne head coach Jamie Williams said. “And when the momentum was going they were able to put it away.”
