WCPS Provides Further Info On K-5 “Plan A” Postponement

On Wednesday December 16, at a Special Called meeting, the Wayne County Board of Education in a 5-2 vote approved postponing the district’s K-5 Plan A transition from January 11 to January 25. This move was made to give the schools, district administrators, and transportation staff time to effectively complete transition plans and to have a better gauge of after-holiday COVID-19 metrics in Wayne County before transitioning all K-5 students to four days of week of face-to-face instruction with limited social distancing.

This week, K-5 families will be notified of the change. Families wishing to have their child participate in the district’s 100% Virtual program are still able to register.

The motion to postpone the Plan A transition was made by Patricia Burden and seconded by Tommy Sanders. (Voting in Favor: Burden, Henderson, Sanders, Vice-Chair Democko & Chair West / Voting against: Leatham & Strickland).
