Peggy Strickland Ivey, 84, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Brian Center. Born in Wayne County on April 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Billy Edward Strickland and Beulah Irene Mitchell Mozingo.
Peggy was a homemaker and known for her excellent cooking skills. She was a partner with her husband in operating the P&D Mobile Home Park in Rosewood.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Paul Rigsby officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery. Mrs. Ivey will lie in state on Friday, January 1, 2021 from 11:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home with the family present from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Peggy is survived by her sons, Joseph Wilson “Junior” Johnson, Jr. and wife Brenda of Meridianville, AL and Bill Knotts and wife, Kathy of Seven Springs; step-daughter, Pam Ham of Goldsboro; sisters, Frances Kestner and Faye Gibbs; brother, Buster Mozingo; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Dean “Tex” Ivey; a son, Gary Knotts; brother, Billy Ray Strickland; and sister, Smokey Futrell.
