Rachel Stafford Porter, 97, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at Woodard’s Care. Born in Johnston County on April 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. Stafford and Nora Kornegay Stafford.
Rachel was a member of Love Memorial Baptist Church.
A private graveside service will be held for the family at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton with Pastor Allen Ham officiating.
Rachel is survived by her son, Kenneth J. Porter of Kinston; daughter, Leigh Porter Zimmermann and husband, Frank of Wake Forest; grandsons, Joseph A. Zimmermann and Steven E. Zimmermann; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry S. Stafford of Virginia; and a sister, Louise S. Popkey of Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Allen Porter; daughter-in-law, Lonniette K. Porter; brothers, John Stafford, Linol Stafford, Leon Stafford, Max Stafford, and Earl Stafford; and sisters, Pauline S. Gorrell and Marie S. Hartley.
