The victim in last week’s shooting in Wayne County has passed away. While further details were not available, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the victim in the December 29th shooting has succumbed to his injuries. Around 8:30 p.m. on December 29th, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 700 block of E. New Hope Road in response to a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, deputies found a vehicle in the ditch. A young male was located inside the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Wayne UNC Health Care.
