It is Black History Month.
Across the nation, citizens are celebrating the many achievements and contributions made by African Americans to our economic, cultural, spiritual and political development.
This month, the City of Goldsboro approved its annual Black History Month Proclamation as proudly read by council member Brandi Matthews.
The proclamation states:
“Africans Americans have made significant contributions as leaders at the highest levels of the military, business, education, law, government, the arts, sports, and religion.”
The theme for Black History Month 2021 is “The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity.”
