A Wayne County native is confirmed to oversee the nation’s top environmental agency.
President Joe Biden had selected Michael Regan to serve as Administrator the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Regan’s nomination was confirmed this week by the U.S. Senate.
Regan is a Goldsboro native.
He attended Goldsboro High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina A&T State University.
Regan last served as Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, a position he held since 2017.
During his tenure, he oversaw the historic settlement with Duke Energy for a full cleanup of all the utility’s coal ash impoundments.
