More and more North Carolina residents are taking their shot.
Gov. Cooper says the state’s vaccine distribution efforts are cause for optimism.
Over 4.1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in North Carolina, and almost 1/3 of the state’s adults have received at least one dose while 18.8% of the state’s residents are fully vaccinated.
According to Tuesday’s figures from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, 21,836 (17.7%) people have been at least partially vaccinated in Wayne County while 10,284 (8.4%) have been fully vaccinated.
The latest figures from the state show Wayne County has recorded 10,470 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began. 233 of those cases have resulted in death.
Statewide, there have been 899,164 cases of COVID-19 and 11,854 deaths due to the virus.
