In May of 2019, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an inappropriate sexual relationship involving a 15-year-old juvenile.  The Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit began an investigation and reportedly learned other juveniles may have been sexually assaulted by the suspect as well.  The investigation included multiple interviews with possible victims, witnesses and processing evidence at the NC State Crime Lab.  As a result of the investigation, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has announced 42-year-old Terrance L. Darden of Dudley has been arrested.  Darden is charged with:

• 7 counts of Statutory Sex Offense with a Child under 15
• 1 count of Statutory Sex Offense with a Child by an Adult
• 1 count of Indecent Liberties with a Child.

Darden’s bond was set at $500,000 secured.
