Velma Lee “Fuzzy” Long Frizzelle

May 9, 2021, 62, Goldsboro –

Velma Lee “Fuzzy” Long Frizzelle, 62, entered life eternal in the heavens on Sunday, May 9, 2021. Fuzzy was born in Lenoir County to the late Benjamin Franklin and Jean Corbett Long on June 5, 1958. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Durwood “Herk” Frizzelle; brother, Benjamin Long; and a long-time friend, Debbie Butts.

Life for Fuzzy centered around the love and care for others. Whether it was providing a meal for her family or being the designated driver at a party, she was always dependable and available.

If something came from Fuzzy’s kitchen, you knew that it was going to be good. Known most for her collards, fried chicken, and chicken salad, she could whip up any southern delicacy you had in mind. No matter the wait, it was worth it when you got to sit at her table and enjoy it.

With a love of music ranging from country to hard rock, Fuzzy enjoyed listening to tunes and watching others perform karaoke. While she appreciated many artists, anything sung by George Strait or Blake Shelton was right up her alley.

Spending time in the salt air brought much peace and contentment to Fuzzy. Surrounded by her family, she could spend hours on the water fishing off the pier and enjoying the sunshine, waves, and company.

A service to remember Fuzzy’s life will be held by the graveside at Pineview Cemetery on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM.

Fuzzy is survived by her grandson, Cory Baker; son, Benjamin Lee Sexton and wife, Jamie; grandchildren, Caleb, Austin, and Callie; special nieces, Lydia Bauer, Becky Dougan, Shelby King, and Betty Sue Blizzard; nieces and nephews, Tonya Barnett, Stephanie Barnett, Nicole Barnett, La’Shay Barnett, Jazmyne Barnette, Da’Cota Blizzard and wife, Tylaniah, Joseph Blizzard, and Jenna Blizzard; sisters, Lydia Outlaw and husband Gordon and Thelma Johnson and friend, Ervin; great-nieces and nephews whom she thought of as grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Kayla, Carol Ann, Emily, Ashlyn, and Cheyenne; three great-grandchildren; four great-great-nephews; two great-great-nieces; and special friends, Ronnie Butts and Darrell Kennedy.
