VFW Post 9959 in Mount Olive held its Memorial Day Service in the Maplewood Cemetery Sunday afternoon. Members and guests were welcomed by Post Commander Jimmie Outlaw with VFW Chaplain John Moore leading the invocation. Outlaw led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance and then recognized the town board members in attendance. Retired U.S. Army Col. Kenneth Sullivan was the guest speaker for the event. The Laying of the Wreath was performed by Commander Outlaw and Auxiliary President Violet Saviak. Taps was played as the American Flag was lowered to half-staff.
