The Kinston Police Department is warning citizens to watch out for the latest scam.  According to the KPD, a resident received a phone call from someone posing as a law enforcement officer who used a number linked to the Kinston Police Department.  The caller requested money in exchange for not being arrested.  These calls are fraudulent and are not in any way associated with the Kinston P.D.  Anyone receiving one of these scam phone calls is advised to just hang up and then call the Kinston Police Department.   Fraud reports can also be filed with the North Carolina Department of Justice at ncdoj.gov/report-robocalls/.
