Gwen Beard Bartlett, 74, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 at Wayne UNC Health Care. Born in Wayne County on June 11, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Elizabeth Bell Beard.

Gwen worked as a rehabilitation counselor for 36 years with the State of North Carolina. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church where she served in numerous capacities. Gwen was the former president of the Salem United Methodist Women, past Sunday School Superintendent, and served as the Pastor-Parish Relations chairperson. She was a long-time member of the Belfast Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and most recently a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate her life in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Becky Bradley officiating.

Gwen is survived by her husband, James Lemuel Bartlett; daughter, Susan Ingold and husband, Doyle of Goldsboro; sister, Nancy Walker and husband, Steve of Pikeville; niece, Ashton Walker of Raleigh; and nephew, Austin Walker of Selma.
